Positioning of brasato and the direction it will develop to.

Current

The current release of the Brasatoframework is 1.0. And its architecture is positioned as follows:

Near future

Brasato's goal is to improve it continuously while keeping the interfaces stable and to add a lot of reusable services to it. The first contributions will come out of OLAT and are therefore e-learning or collaborative services such as:

  • Forum
  • Wiki
  • Group management
  • Content Packaging
  • SCORM Player
  • Jabber Chat

Roadmap

  • Small improvements (ongoing)
    • better handling of the back button in web 2.0 mode (iframe issues)
    • improved documentation of the core classes
    • more tutorials and real-life examples
    • Support intelligent distribution of poll / push(hanging get) requests for optimization of server load / client responsiveness
    • Widen tested and supported browser to more than Firefox and IE 6/7
    • Support for asynchronous updates also for screenreaders
  • Moving more and more reusable GUI services from the OLAT project to Brasato (ongoing)
  • Integration of JSF Facelets to leverage existing components (tbd)
  • Integration of OSGI for more advanced service deployment (tbd)
  • Integration of JSR 168 Portlets through an automatic controller wrapper
